TRIUMPH!
Falling in love every night is so much better than falling in love every day. The newest ‘my new boyfriend’ was a beyond dreamy young lad with the dark hipster suit, grey scarf and slicked back hair. Oh my damn. I saw him at the hot band triple threat last night at Chop Suey, where he quickly faded into the background, allowing me to grant my full attention to this spectacle of cultural (rather than man-ual) hotness. I am delighted to report that this is my first show in Seattle where all three bands in a lineup were all fucking great. Get used to me saying that every show I see was better than the last, especially with Helio Sequence’s release party tonite.

Last night’s extravaganza featured the direct but beautifully melodic stylings of Dios, the wreckless pageantry of The Girls and wild equine-rock goodness that is The Ponys. Again, to hold myself back a tick. This is not a showblog. I just had a brilliant time last night, even though standing for a whole show in Chop Suey makes one feel like they have wandered into a nightmarish hellpit, where you are usually being pushed in two different directions by all the people treating the floor as their fucking thoroughfare, going to and from like the flaky bitches they often are instead of stopping their fucking day-to-day and appreciating that they are bearing witness to some remarkable music.

Ahem. In other news, I had my first day at The Stranger, which was a little nerve-wracking but went pretty fucking well, all in all. My interview was on Wednesday, and was followed by a call later in the afternoon to ask me if I could start the next day. This news came at the perfect time, while my benefactress was visiting. So she could see that I had been working hard to justify my reason for living fancy-for-free in her nice little suburban pad.

Bless. And now, on day two, things are going even better. I’ve been doing random little things around the office and I even got to do a little writing this week. Huzzah! I’m thrilled, thrilled I say! Thrilled to actually be able to graduate, thrilled to be working at one of my favorite publications…hell, I even got my desk (minimal: yes, computer: shittyold) at long last. I’m going to throw stuff up on the wall on Monday.

And finally…my oboe actually sold. On ebay. FINALLY! I thought for sure it was never going to happen. But I am about to be $500 richer, which is truly a wonder to behold. I may be able to go another month without getting a day job now. I just have to be tight-fisted as all hell. The dilemma is how to use this wad…obviously, I need to bankroll myself right now. But I really want to put money down on a fancy new 15” iBook. Like, so much more than anything else I’ve wanted. Ever. Because if I’m going to France next year, ain’t no WAY I can be bringing my big, clunky-ass, old-as-hell POS with me. And for the purpose of this journey to be realize, I will definitely be needing my own computer.

Um. Also, Pride is this weekend. Tragic time to be broke, but such is life. I think I should be able to get my mild party on at one of the multitude of free events. But the reason people seem to be all up on hopping on the gay pride bandwagon is to sell their fucking product. We have reached equality, my brothers: we are now little more than another demographic. Yay! Actually, I’m kind of excited. Maybe I’ll finally be getting laid again.
